artist statement

Whilst the majority of her work comprises graphite and colour pencil drawings, she occasionally incorporates acrylic painting and collage into her art practice. Her appreciation for nature makes landscape one of her favourite subjects to paint as she finds the simplest form of comfort in their presence. As someone who feels an immense fondness for animals, she takes joy in drawing them as each stroke brings a sense of connection to the beautiful creatures and the work gets closer to 'coming to life'.

Apart from animal drawings, she recently started exploring the theme of everyday objects, concerning those precious and nostalgic to herself. She is intrigued by how positive emotions can be induced through the sight of plain-looking everyday objects. Her work presents an array of objects from within the consumer culture such as stuffed toys, cosmetic products and her favourite childhood snacks, particularly those that are recognisable and have a soft and alluring demeanour.
